The centerpiece of Chowan Golf & Country Club is its beautifully maintained 18-hole golf course, thoughtfully designed by renowned architect Ellis Maples. Winding through majestic southern pines, scenic wetlands, and tranquil ponds, the course offers a memorable blend of natural beauty and strategic design that golfers of all skill levels can enjoy.
Playing to a par of 72 and measuring 6,483 yards from the back tees, the layout provides an enjoyable challenge while rewarding thoughtful shot-making and course management. Whether you’re a longtime member, a first-time guest, or a visiting golfer, you’ll appreciate the exceptional playing conditions and the timeless character of the course.
Before your round, take advantage of our driving range and practice green to sharpen every aspect of your game. We are committed to continually improving the course and maintaining outstanding conditions throughout the year. In 2011, following the addition of several new tee boxes, the course was officially remeasured and rerated to reflect its updated layout.

Course Rules
- USGA rules govern all play
- Foursomes have right of way
- Allow faster players to play through.
- Please use 90° rule.
- Keep carts on paths around all tees and greens. Return to cart path at least 30 yards from green. Exit fairway at cart signs.
- Keep carts on path on all par 3’s and hole #4. All hazards are played as lateral water hazards unless otherwise marked.
- No personal coolers allowed. All alcohol is to be purchased on-site at our Snack Bar.
- OB defined by white poles and the following: paved road left of #1, 2, 3, & 18 – paved road behind 11, 14 & 15, paved road right of #15 & 16. Across left side of ponds on 4, 5, 11, 13, & 14. Across right side of pond and ditch on #12. OB stakes on #10 and #18 are for #18 only.
